'It's better for me when he's not there,' she said. 'When I look at his face, when I see him, it's hard for me to concentrate on my running. What he thinks is important to me, but when he's there, I could lose focus.
'I am getting prepared in my head now,' Reed said. 'The physical strain will be enormous, from the distance not to mention no sleeping.'
After the 300-mile run in late March, Reed has other races on her agenda. She will travel to England for the London Marathon on April 17, followed by the Boston Marathon on April 19.But leave it to Reed to put her own twist on that famous race.
'Like I did before, I will run the course backwards (from the finish to the start line) before the race starts, then run it the right way with everyone else,' she said.
Since winning the notorious Badwater Ultramarathon in 2002, Reed has become something of a media darling. She has been interviewed by scores of print journalists and then made a guest appearance on 'Late Night With David Letterman.'

'I know how blessed I am.I live in Tucson in the winter and in Jackson Hole, Wyo., in the summer.I am amazed at how lucky I am and so happy with what I do,' she said. 'I have been able to go to Europe to run and my children got to come along.
'My husband and the rest of my family have been so supportive,' she said. 'It has been great.'
