In judging applicants, BioSource seeks a feel for industrial imperatives."Success is in seeing the product get out the door," Reagan explains."It takes a certain personality that enjoys the mayhem of changes in product focus and the variety of products to work on.Our assumption is that when you're developing something you'll do it competently.We don't need world-class experts but flexible people skilled in a general series of disciplines and able to apply them , scientists who are literature-savvy and able to use their contacts in academe and elsewhere."
How should young scientists prepare for this type of work?"You have to be flexible," advises Reagan.
