Jack ReadingA keen theatregoer all his adult life, Jack Reading, who became an honorary Doctor of Letters, is one of the founding fathers of the Theatre Museum of Great Britain in Covent Garden.Mr Reading spent most of his career working for the Miners' Welfare Committee (later Commission), a charitable body set up by Parliament to improve conditions and welfare of miners, and later the National Coal Board.A distinguished amateur theatre researcher, Mr Reading, who now lives in Deal, assembled an extensive collection of specialised theatre history reference books which he has generously donated to the University of Kent's Templeman Library.
