August 2006 , Along with Tom Paterson and co-counsel in New Mexico, Mr. Raymond represented the New Mexico State Land Office and settled a lawsuit with OXY USA, Inc. and an affiliate for underpayment of royalties allegedly owed to the state for carbon dioxide produced from the Bravo Dome CO2 Unit of northeastern New Mexico.

August 2006 , On behalf of 4300 royalty and overriding royalty owners across the United States, Tom Paterson, Mr. Raymond, and New Mexico co-counsel obtained a $27.5 million settlement with ConocoPhillips for alleged underpayment of royalty on natural gas liquids produced from the San Juan Basin of northwestern New Mexico and processed at the New Blanco Plant near Bloomfield, New Mexico.

September 2005 , Less than a week before the start of a jury trial in Clayton, New Mexico, OXY USA, Inc. agreed to pay $12 million to settle a class action lawsuit brought by Susman Godfrey's Thomas W. Paterson and Mr. Raymond and the Gallegos Law Firm on behalf of a class of royalty owners who had leased mineral rights to OXY for the production of carbon dioxide at the Bravo Dome Unit in northeastern New Mexico.

Mr. Raymond's successes in and out of the courtroom are a product of his unyielding commitment to working hard and righting wrongs.He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up in Golden, Colorado.He attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and graduated magna cum laude from GW's Elliott School of International Affairs.During his senior year, Mr. Raymond was elected Phi Beta Kappa and received the Wilbur J. Carr Prize in International Affairs.
Fresh out of GW, Mr. Raymond joined the Teach for America program, which placed him in Sunflower County, Mississippi where he taught high school special education and social studies and coached the varsity football team.
After finishing his two-year teaching commitment, Mr. Raymond enrolled at the University of Texas School of Law.In 1997, he was a champion of the Thad T. Hutcheson First-Year Moot Court Competition.Later that year, Mr. Raymond and his partner won the Gibbs & Bruns Moot Court Competition.In the meantime, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation awarded Mr. Raymond a Child Welfare Fellowship, and he spent a summer working at the Mississippi Attorney General's Office.
In 1998, Mr. Raymond became Managing Editor of the Texas Law Review.His Note, Where Are the Reasonable Efforts to Enforce the Reasonable Efforts Requirement?: Monitoring State Compliance Under the Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act of 1980, was published by the Texas Law Review in April 1999.
After graduating from law school with honors in 1999, Mr. Raymond journeyed to Galveston, Texas where he served as Briefing Attorney for The Honorable Samuel B. Kent, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas.
Following his clerkship, Mr. Raymond joined Susman Godfrey in 2000.In December 2004, he was elected partner at the firm.

During law school, Mr. Raymond co-founded the Sunflower County Freedom Project, a nonprofit organization committed to providing educational and leadership enrichment opportunities to children living in Sunflower County, Mississippi, where he taught after college.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the Sunflower County Freedom Project, Mr. Raymond sits on the Board of Advisors for Teach for America in Houston and the Board of Directors for the Houston Area Women's Center.In 2005, he was featured in the Men Against Violence television campaign sponsored by the Houston Police Department, and in January 2006, the Women's Center appointed him to its Executive Committee.He and his wife, Alicia, co-chaired the Women's Center's 2006 5K "Race Against Violence."
In early 2006, Mr. Raymond co-founded the U.S. Public Service Academy, an effort to create a four-year, public-service-oriented undergraduate school modeled on the military service academies.Mr. Raymond wrote an op-ed for The Houston Chronicle that describes the project in greater detail.
