Our first recording secretary was an African American by the name of Patrick H. Raymond, who was the chief engineer in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Now even back then, Cambridge was the home of Harvard and was a fairly upper class city, but this chief was making his mark, not only by looking to the future in the fire service but also in the human relations and equality arena.
