    Dr Oliver Ray Oliver received his BEng in Information Systems Engineering at Imperial College in 2000 and his PhD in Computer Science at Imperial College in 2005.His research is primarily concerned with the integration of "abductive" and "inductive" logic and their application to machine learning and artificial intelligence.His doctoral thesis entitled "Hybrid Abductive Inductive Learning" was a runner-up in the British Computer Society Distinguished Dissertation Competition.Oliver has worked as Teaching Associate at Imperial College and as a Visiting Scientist in the University of Cyprus, where he applied the techniques developed in his PhD to the prediction of HIV/AIDS drug resistance.Oliver joins the department as a Research Fellow in Exabyte Informatics.
