Mr. Mary Etta Ray

Mr. Ray was born April 27, 1918, in Grandville, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Ernest W. and Mary Etta (Roden) Ray.

Mr. Ray lived in Belmont, Mass., and was a graduate of Belmont (Mass.) High School and Wentworth Institute in Boston.

He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II.Mr. Ray lived in Reading, Mass., for a number of years before moving to Gilford 43 years ago.

He was a district engineer for New England Telephone, where he was employed for 36 years.

Mr. Ray was a member of the South Baptist Church in Laconia.He was a former member of the Gilford planning board, the budget committee and served as a town selectman.

Mr. Ray was an avid skier and a member of the Gilford Outing Club and the Over the Hill Gang.He was also a member of the Gideons International Association.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juaneva (Sledge) Ray of Gilford; a son, William S. Ray of Laconia; a daughter, Elizabeth I. Robinson of Merrimack; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Ray and Alexandra Ray, both of Laconia and Michael Robinson and James Robinson, both of Merrimack.
