We are pleased to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Rappaport to Nemours Health and Prevention Services (NHPS) as Special Projects Officer.Dr. Rappaport will report directly to me and work closely with NHPS center directors Marihelen Barrett, RN, MSN, Children's Health Innovation; Larry Kleinman, MD, MPH, Research, Evaluation and Planning, and Neil Izenberg, MD, Children's Health Media.

Dr. Rappaport joined Nemours in 2003 to lead the efforts of the CODA - Childhood Origins of Diseases of Adulthood - Consortium, a multidsiciplinary group of health care professionals.
The CODA mission is to develop, apply and disseminate effective strategies to recognize and treat premature expression of common adult diseases.Members of the group collaborate in research, education and the development and assessment of clinical care models.Much of their recent work has been focused in the area of childhood obesity and its comorbidities.Dr. Rappaport, a pediatric endocrinologist, is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and did post-graduate training at Harvard, Beth Israel Hospital, University of Minnesota Hospitals and Montreal Children's Hospital.She has held leadership positions at the Food and Drug Administration, the New Jersey Department of Health and Glaxo SmithKline, where she was responsible for new drug development in the area of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.Dr. Rappaport serves on the board of directors of the Health Promotion Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
