    Tom Rankin, former Chair of the Access Centre for Community Care in Lanark, Leeds and Grenville's Board of Directors, has recently won an Award of Excellence from the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres.

    Mr. Rankin achieved an Award of Excellence in the 'Volunteer' category.This award recognizes a volunteer who has acted with integrity and enthusiasm in the service of their CCAC.

    Mr. Rankin was commended for his contribution to the goals and objectives of the Access Centre, as well as his impact on the health care system on a regional level.A member of the Access Centre's Board from 1998 - 2006, he provided leadership and guidance around such objectives as enhancing public awareness of the Access Centre and heightening relationships with community and health partners.Mr. Rankin has also collaborated with key partners on the provincial level in support of the Ontario government's health care transformation process.

    Mr. Rankin currently serves on South East Local Health Integration Network's Board of Directors.

    The awardees were recognized during an awards ceremony at the recent conference of the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres.

    Tom is well known for his work as the chair of the transformation sub-committee.He has worked tirelessly on behalf of all CCACs to ensure the transition to the LHIN model will be seamless and enable local health care providers to offer consistency to those they serve.As an OACCAC Board member, Tom served on the Communications and Policy & Research committees while maintaining his chair position of the Board of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville.He has lead two symposiums of local health partners that identified service needs and gaps within the community.Tom has also worked closely with the CCAC Eastern Region, the Health Care Network of Southeastern Ontario, the Southeast Regional Cancer Council, and co-hosted several local community TV programs about LLG CCAC.

    Vice Chair - Thomas Rankin (Merrickville) Term 2007 - 2010 Tom Rankin brings to his position as Board member of the Southeast Local Health Integration Network 30 years of public service experience. Prior to his 27 years with the Government of Ontario, he worked in communications with the University of Waterloo. He held positions in the Department of Education, Community and Social Services, Culture and Recreations, Tourism and Recreations and Economic Development and Trade. When he retired he was a Regional Director with Culture, Tourism and Recreations. Leadership development has been a major part of his career and he moderated executive development programs with the Niagara Institute and the Canadian Centre for Management Development. Since retiring he has held a number of volunteer positions with health care organizations including: Board Chair, Access Centre for Community Care in Lanark, Leeds and Grenville; Vice-Chair, Access Centre for Community care in Lanark, Leeds and Grenville; Vice-Chair, Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres; Executive member, Merrickville District Community Health Centre. Today he uses his math and physics degree from the University of Waterloo in a math tutoring business he runs with his wife Marian. Tom and Marian have three daughters, all graduates from health sciences programs at McMaster University and employed in the health care field.
