Susanna Rankin Bohme is a doctoral candidate at Brown University, Department of American Civilization, in Providence, Rhode Island, where she received her Master's Degree in 1999. Her work at Brown focuses on the intersections of health and globalization in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Her dissertation, "The Pesticide Industry and Citizen Resistance in the Globalizing Americas: DBCP in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the United States," looks at the history of the toxic pesticide chemical dibromochloropropane (DBCP) in order to explore the relationship between citizens, states and corporations in an era of globalization. She has published on the influence of the asbestos industry on science, the history of consumer and labor warnings, and the ideology of health and science. She works as a researcher at Never Again Consulting in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
