The firm's founder and president, A. Michael Rankin, is a vital presence in the national solar and swimming pool arena.Rankin has served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Solar Energy Industries Association, spoken on photovoltaic developments for conferences across the country, and supported large scale educational efforts through the Center for Renewable Resources in Washington, D.C. With the introduction of his Flo-Control system at the Renewable Energies Technology Symposium on October 3, 1983 in California, Rankin has established Florida as a visible and formidable presence in innovative solar development. At this year's symposium, Rankin is introducing a new line of one of a kind photovoltaic powered heat reduction ventilation system.
Rankin has also actively collaborated with the Florida Solar Energy Center on a number of systems design projects.Rankin's current research efforts center on uses of amorphous silicon for photovoltaics and he believes that amorphous silicon represents the best hope for cost-effective, efficient photovoltaic technology.
