Cassandra Ramirez

Cassandra is an activist and articulate advocate of transgender rights and issues.Her personal experience with the transsexual phenomena has provided her with a in-depth understanding and sensitivity to the difficult plight transgendered persons have had to endure in all facets of societal interaction.

Cassandra Ramirez, a native Californian, has an educational background in sociology and psychology.She has also maintained a career in the Human Resource profession for over 28 years.Currently, Cassandra is the Director of Human Resources for the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.In addition to her work experience,Cassandra is also a facilitator and leader of gender related peer support and conversation groups.Cassandra has served as the Program Director for the Ventura Transgender Education Project with the Ventura Gay & Lesbian Community Center, CA.She currently is a member of the City of West Hollywood's Transgender Taskforce.She also served as a Congressional Aide in Washington D.C.Cassandra Ramirez has personally dealt with the transgender phenomena her entire life.Today, even though she was born male, she has successfully completed the transition to legally being and living life as a woman.

Cassandra brings to IMRU a unique and challenging gender duality perspective on issues and actions within the gay community as well as society in general.Cassandra believes that only through educational awareness and continuing advocacy of transgendered human rights can acceptance of the transgendered occur.Through her segments on IMRU, Cassandra's goal is to provide listeners with an educational awareness, understanding, sensitivity of the transgender community.

Cassandra, a native Californian, comes to the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center with a vast career background in public sector Human Resources (HR) work.In her 26 years of HR experience she has worked with the City of Fresno, City of Merced, and the County of Ventura, all California local governments.She has served in the capacity of Employment Programs Administrator, Personnel Manager, Affirmative Action Officer, Departmental Services Manager, HR Information Systems Manager, and HR Analyst/Consultant specializing in the areas of job analysis, recruitment and examination, employee relations, organizational development, employee training, contract administration, and employee benefits.

In addition to her work experience, she also served as the Program Director for the Ventura Transgender Education Project with the Ventura Gay & Lesbian Community Center, CA, where she oversaw and participated in all transgender educational activities, coordinated and produced conferences and seminars, and served as the liaison with community, state, and national leaders.She also served as a Congressional Aide in Washington D.C.
