"For third-, sixth-, eighth- and tenth-grade students, it will be business as usual," said Jan Radford, director of curriculum and instruction for the Michigan City Area Schools.
...
Because of No Child Left Behind, Radford noted, scores for each district will be reported for sub groups of students. The idea, she said, is to see that all groups of children are making "adequate yearly progress."
...
Radford said accommodations also are made when the total number of students tested in a grade within an entire school system is less than 150."You really cannot get good numbers with less than 150 tested," she noted.
...
Since school reopened, Radford said, "Our teachers have been reviewing material. But then, we always review after summer breaks. That's what you do at the beginning of the year."
ISTEP testing for grades 3 through 9 will be given between Sept. 15 and 26.Principals are free to schedule testing as they see fit, Radford said.
GQE tests may be given only on Sept. 16, 17 and 18.
