'Sounds Write'
Agreed a proposed Action Plan for 'Sounds Write' across the whole school - to be presented to Staff by Ellen at next week's WSSM for discussion.More training is to be made available in the Spring Term. The initiative needs major input across the whole school, especially in the Lower School. It needs to be 'driven' and carefully monitored.Improvements should be noted on entry to NJS as Infants are now using the scheme with basic code knowledge hopefully being imbedded. 'Overall Aim' is to ensure that all children at the end of KS2 are literate.Ellen spoke about the way forward - Year Three aspect - groups/staffing/use of rooms.

Levelling writing across the whole school - Ellen - Writing assessment. The theme this time is "Message in a bottle".Ellen has set up a letter sent from the Marie Celeste and the children have to carry out the task. The children can work independently on their writing task but will need plenty of input. These can be adapted for each class in order to get the best level for each class.Ellen will share the context from the original book. This will be done on Thursday with work to be levelled by the 4th October. The tracker has been e-mailed to all staff. The base-line assessment is for September.Could staff put in a target for the summer term (2 sub-levels may be too ambitious for some and less for others)?Ellen has also provided folders for each class for individual results with year three also having a time table too.The results could be used for targeting for individual pupils. It was decided that staff would not use dictionaries etc in order that results could be comparable.Ellen and Penny might use the assembly time that morning in order to promote interest.
