  Managed by a team of 20 or so permanent staff who work throughout the year to plan the fair and add a huge number of external recruits closer to the dates for its actual running, Art Basel that was master minded by a single director Sam Keller until last year is now managed as a double act between Annette Schönholzer (who headed Basel Miami for organization & finances), Marc Spiegler (a journalist and art market analyst for strategy & development) after their artistic director Cay Sophie Rabinowitz resigned just a few weeks before the fair followed by some other changes resulting in some controversies that did seem to leave their mark on what is considered the world's most popular and commercially successful art fair.
