High School Sports Host and Reporter
Mike Quick knows tri-state area high school sports like no else in the region, and he shares his expertise as host and reporter for numerous high school programs on MSG and MSG Plus.Currently, Quick is host of the "New Balance High School Weekly presented by Max Preps" and the "MSG LAX Report powered by SportsGist.com."
Since joining the network in 1987 he has provided excellent in-depth reporting on all high-profile high school sports and human-interest stories in the tri-state area.
Additionally, Quick contributes video blogs on MSG.com discussing current hot topics in local high school sports.
Quick began his career in sports television at News-12 Cablevision of Connecticut in 1986.At News-12, he worked the studio camera and the ENG sports camera before doing his first on-air stint as a sideline reporter for high school basketball and football telecasts.Quick started his career at MSG as a senior reporter, field producer and associate producer for the "Coca-Cola High School SportsWeek" show in 1987.He worked in that capacity with host Greg Gumbel from 1987-89 and with Al Trautwig in 1990 and 1991.Quick's efforts led to several New York Film Festival awards and a New York Emmy in 1988 in the "Best Informative Series" category.Additionally, from 1994-95 Quick served as a reporter for the "St.John's Report."
While most of his efforts are in front of the camera, Quick also spends a great deal of time on the other side of the lens.Besides serving as producer for his reports, he produced and hosted the "March of Dimes Scholastic All-Star" shows from 1987 to 1990.In 1993 and 1994 he produced "Gotham Gridders" and "The March of Dimes Celebrity Luncheon Special."In the past Quick has also served as associate director for "SportsDesk" and was stage manager and associate director for the "Live from the Play-by-Play" show from 1993-95.
Quick, who hosts MSG's annual Heisman High School All-Star Breakfast, received the prestigious Heisman Special Service Award in 1996.He resides in Norwalk, Connecticut and has two children, Katelin and Brian.
