Her great-great-great grandparents brought her grandfather to America from Kray Tabor, and they settled in Nebraska near Wilber. The family has lived and farmed in the Wilber and Milligan areas for many years.

Her heritage is important to her because it has made her who she is today. The customs and foods are interesting and unique and the stories and folklore give her things to share with others and without it she would not be complete.

She is involved in family preservation by participating in Czech festivals and speaking and wearing her kroj. She educates people about the Czech culture and teaches them about her heritage. She has learned to make kolace and makes them for her friends.
