Joe Pruszenski started working at US Air in 1987 as a baggage handler after losing his job at J&L Steel in Aliquippa.He moved into the airline's stockroom in 1992 and became a member of the mechanics local of the International Association of Machinists, one of the unions forced to take the court-imposed 21 percent pay cut.

Joe has the added stress of being No. 127 in seniority on a staff of 165.

"One big cut and I'm gone," he said.

But before baby comes a scaled-back Christmas with Joe's two grown sons and their families and Joyce's daughters, Leah Perkins, 19, a Community College of Beaver County student, and Laura Perkins, 17, a junior at Monaca High School.
