Like Boston, Stan Pruitt, pastor, Southside Baptist Church, Dyersburg, was up all night Sunday night helping people and has worked long hours since then.
...
Pruitt, a former roofer, was soon removing the tree and covering the hole in her roof.He was helped by Jeremy Shelton, youth pastor, and several other members of the church.
As they surveyed the area, they visited the nearby mobile home park."They're just devastated down there," he described.
During the night, Pruitt met a man who couldn't locate his sister whose mobile home had been destroyed. He was distraught, said Pruitt.Pruitt tried to help him until another storm threatened and he and others returned to the church for shelter.Thankfully, when Pruitt returned and found the man, he had located his sister.
"It is so sad," he said.
...
Pruitt told of a family who included a young girl suffering from cerebral palsy. Her wheelchair was covered by the debris of their mobile home.Pruitt returned the next day with an offer of help from the Robertson County Baptist Association DR chain saw crew, which had a small fork lift with them. The family appreciated the offer but explained they had already accepted other help.
Pruitt said the cooperative efforts of churches of Dyer Baptist Association and the arrival of chain saw crews from Robertson County association, based in Springfield, and Maury Baptist Association, based in Columbia, really encouraged him.
