Sharon Pruitt, assistant district attorney, said Monday afternoon she did not know the girl's condition.

The boy has been charged with aggravated assault.

Police said Friday that the altercation at the group home began because the boy had gotten upset with his housemates, including the girl and two caseworkers who live at the residence.

They were able to escape from the house before police arrived, getting into a van and locking themselves in, police said.

Police found the knife-wielding boy in the front yard of the home and arrested him without incident.

The 15-year-old girl pleaded guilty Thursday before County Court at-Law Judge Becky Simpson to an aggravated robbery charge and was sentenced to an indeterminate stay in the custody of the Texas Youth Commission, Assistant District Attorney Sharon Pruitt reported.

Also pleading Thursday was a 17-year-old Longview man, who admitted to counts of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping participating in a July carjacking, Pruitt said.

The teen was 16 on July 3, the day he and two other Longview men carjacked a 23-year-old Longview man after following him from work.Police say the trio wanted his car.

One suspect forced the victim at gunpoint to drive to Second Street and Marshall Avenue where he was forced out of the vehicle.

Pruitt said the teen was sentenced to a seven-year TYC detention. He will be held until he's 21, when he could be released if officials believe he is rehabilitated. If his attitude has not improved, he might have to spend the rest of his sentence in adult prison.

Assistant District Attorney Sharon Pruitt argued that the children's system would not be enough for the teen.

"There is no way she could possibly be rehabilitated within the juvenile system," the juvenile prosecutor said.

Jeffery has passed up opportunities at rehabilitation before, Pruitt said, noting that the teen was on probation for burglary when she was charged with the killings and that prosecutors were preparing to bring felony car theft charges against her.

Jeffery has demonstrated the "sophistication and maturity" of an adult and needs to face adult justice for the protection of the community, Pruitt told the judge.
    ...
The testimony and evidence against the girl show prosecutors have established probable cause to show that Jeffery participated in the "criminal rampage" that killed two clerks and wounded a third, Pruitt said.
