04/10/2001 - FAIRFAX, VA – Hugh Pratt of Insulatus, Inc., has been formally advised by Dennis Dean Kirk, General Counsel to the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), to immediately cease and desist all advertising and false claims that "illegally and improperly infer endorsement or sponsorship or connection to SC&RA."
Kirk also pointed out that Pratt's company had issued print and Internet promotional material that unlawfully uses SC&RA's copyright, trade and service mark, protected name, and intellectual property rights without license, permission or authorization.
Insulatus, Inc., claims in its promotional material that its product (Insulating Links) protects against electrocution in the crane industry.Always watchful for innovative safety products and techniques, SC&RA had invited Pratt to appear before its Insurance and Safety Committees.Several member companies took advantage of a free trial offer to evaluate the product and found the product to be useful. However, after considerable deliberation, SC&RA decided against endorsing Insulatus, Inc., and its product.SC&RA disputes references to SC&RA and its Crane & Rigging Workshop in the company's promotional material which seem framed to infer an endorsement.
SC&RA is a trade association with more than 1,100 member companies in 43 nations.Members are engaged in specialized transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance and crane rental.
