    James Prather (Jim) was invited to become a member of the Quad Cities Rotary Club in 1988, with a classification of Contract Specialist.He has served his club as President, 1994-1995, as Sergeant-at Arms, 1988-2006, and also on most of the club's service committees.He is currently serving as a member of the District Literacy Committee, 1996-present; Public Relations, 2002-present; and World Community Service, 2004 -present.Jim is a Paul Harris Fellow +2, a charter member of District 6420's Paul Harris Society, a Benefactor, a member of the Paul Harris 711 Club, and a Rotarian of Merit (1995).Jim has served District 6420 for the past five years as an Assistant Governor.He helped organize the 2004 District Conference, and served as Sergeant-at Arms for the 2007 District Conference.Jim served in the U.S. Navy as an Electronic Technician during the Viet Nam era.After his Navy experience he was a Customer Engineer with IBM for 13 years, owner-operator of a home entertainment sales and service company for four years, and is currently a Procuring Contracting Officer for the U.S. Army where he is the Senior Contract Specialist/Team Leader for the 40mm Grenade/Mortars Acquisition Team.He has also served as an adult literacy tutor, a youth mentor, and is active in his church.When he has time left after Rotary, his other interests and hobbies include building model airplanes, and "N' and "HO" model trains.Jim and Cheryl (Sherry) were married April, 1973 and they have two daughters who were Junior Rotarians.Sherry is currently employed as a Legal Secretary, for the same lawyer that hired her 42 years ago.Her interests and hobbies include continuing to mother their two girls, and expanding her collection of vintage dolls.
