Graham Powell P.E., Ph.D. - Graham has over 30 years experience developing specialized finite element solutions for pipeline-soil interaction analysis. Since developing the initial version of PIPLIN for Alyeska's Trans Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS) in 1972, Graham has helped SSD refine this model, so that today, PIPLIN is the recognized leading program for pipeline-soil interaction analysis. He is retired Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and is world renowned for his work in nonlinear structural analysis.

The Acquisition of Professor Graham H. Powell's PERFORM ®-3D & PERFORM®-COLLAPSETM (Previously marketed as RAM Perform-3D & RAM Perform-Collapse by RAM International)

Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI) is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Professor Graham H. Powell to acquire all rights to his nonlinear structural analysis software products, PERFORM-3D and PERFORM-COLLAPSE. Professor Powell will also be joining the CSI development staff to help enhance and integrate this technology into CSI's popular structural analysis and design packages, SAP2000® and ETABS®.

PERFORM-3D provides users with a sophisticated earthquake engineering tool for static pushover analyses and nonlinear dynamic response history analysis, while PERFORM-COLLAPSE aids engineers to model and analyze conditions of "progressive collapse" or "disproportionate collapse" in buildings. The software addresses areas of nonlinear analysis that are undergoing significant growth in the building, bridge and infrastructure markets across the globe. Initially, PERFORM-3D and PERFORM-COLLAPSE will be interfaced to SAP2000 and ETABS as external add-ons, but in time this technology will be seamlessly integrated into the CSI analytical engine, SAPFIRE™, which powers all of Computers and Structures' products.

In announcing the acquisition, CSI President Ashraf Habibullah said "We are very excited to have Professor Powell join the CSI development team.
    ...
A statement released by Dr. Powell said "I am delighted to be associated with CSI, and excited by the opportunities.
