Liz Poulin, TBSO Board Chair, and Ron Nelson, Chair of the General Manager Search Committee, announced today that an agreement has been finalized with Leanne Atkinson to become General Manager of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra beginning August 14, 2006.

The funding is basic to the survival of the orchestra, said TBSO president Liz Poulin.

?For every dollar the city gives, the provincial and federal government gives 2 1/2 dollars.?

Poulin claimed the orchestra helps attract people into the community and supplies a pool of professional musicians that would not normally be here.

Music director Geoffrey Moull, president Elizabeth Poulin and general manager Paul Inksetter issued an invitation to the music lovers of Thunder Bay to experience Canada's finest artists and the greatest music ever written, played by the outstanding musicians of the TBSO in performances that engage and excite as only live music can.

I still remember the shared sense of triumph when a small group of musicians led by clarinettist E-Chen Hsu, pianist Heather Morrison and board member Liz Poulin secured sponsorship for the first festival from a generous Robin Smith & Associates.
