On Friday, festival treasurer Janet Garon presented Ms. Osimo and Linda M. Poulin, Harrington Memorial Hospital's health education coordinator, with ceremonial checks from event proceeds.

Ms. Poulin said the hospital's cancer support fund has provided funds for people who are struggling financially because of their battles with any form of cancer.She said the fund has helped 30 cancer victims in the past three years."The money has been used to help people with transportation, day care, nutritional support, homemaking services," Ms. Poulin said."There is a tremendous need" for financial support for many people fighting cancer, she said."These people are at the end of their rope."
