Construction crews are trying to divert vehicle traffic to Hess and Jordan roads or South Parker Road and Mainstreet to "avoid construction grief and driver inconvenience," said Jeff Potts, engineering development review manager for Parker Public Works. The developer of a residential community called Horseshoe Ridge is paying $690,000 for the construction of the additional lane as part of an agreement with the town to make public improvements. It will serve as a turn lane to avoid back-ups from motorists entering a subdivision or driveway but must wait for oncoming traffic to pass.Parker's engineers will inspect the roadwork as it progresses, Potts said."Motsenbocker will be a residential boulevard collector some time in the future. They are doing the west half of the road now," he said."It's going to be a wide single-lane road with a bike lane and a median."Parker wants to finish widening the road in 2011, but that will depend on budget conditions and town council priorities."It was a possibility to wait and do both sides, but Motsenbocker is not a high priority for the town right now," Potts said.
