Jane Potts

French, owner of Comforts of Home, 510 S. Washington St., volunteers Monday mornings with Southeast Elementary School teacher Jane Potts, working with second-grade students and doing light administrative tasks.

She was inspired to reach out to the classroom after going on a field trip last fall with Potts' class, which also includes her granddaughter.

"She's just been wonderful," Potts said."She'll do anything I want her to do.She likes to work with small kids, and I like to divide them into small groups.Without other adult hands in there, I can't do that."

Potts has been using French's business skills to help the students learn about money and about goods and services.
