"As (one of eight judges) for this program, I was impressed to learn about groups that want to make a real difference in neighborhoods throughout the metro area," said Richard Potter, manager of financial development for the Cenikor Foundation, a residential substance-abuse treatment facility that received last year's grant.

Previous projects resulting from a Building Blocks of Our Community grant include a multi-use volleyball-tennis-basketball court, a youth baseball facility, a skateboard park, a concrete foundation for a youth treatment facility, construction materials for a local historical museum and a new parking lot for a residential treatment facility.
