EMS levy goes at primary - [Cached Version]
Published on: 2/14/2002    Last Visited: 2/16/2002

The renewal will not increase taxes, according to Safety Director Charles Potter.

Potter said the levy is and will continue to be collected at a lower millage than when it began. He said the owner of a $100,000 home pays $58 yearly in taxes for the levy but was paying $68 yearly when the levy began.

Council approved putting the levy on the ballot on its first reading.Even though Councilman Donald Baker voted with the other members to put it on the ballot, he scolded the administration for not doing its homework so it could have been on council's agenda earlier and gone for more than one reading.

This is the third levy expected to be on the May ballot. One will be for the public library and another one the Medina County Home.

The 1.75 mill library levy will replace one which expires this year.It will be a continuing levy which, according to the February 2002 Ellagram means the library will not have to keep coming back to the voters every five years to maintain this source of funding.
