  So far around 6,000 fishermen have attended the free courses but, according to Simon Potten, Seafish training manager, there are still a lot of fishermen who have not yet taken advantage of the free training.
  
  "I would urge fishermen who have not attended this course to come forward as soon as possible before the funding period expires.The MCA looks set to make this course mandatory and has stated its intention to enforce safety training regulations more rigorously," he says.
