Ms. Porter was graduated summa cum laude from the University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee in 1977, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa, among other honorary societies.She received her law degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1980.At Vanderbilt, Ms. Porter was a Patrick Wilson Scholar and Executive Student Writing Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review.Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Porter served as law clerk to the Honorable Seybourn H. Lynne, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Alabama.
