LONG BEACH - Larry Polin, director of public safety at Brooks College, watched Wednesday as workers hauled desks, chairs, tables and bed frames from campus buildings to be loaded onto trucks.

Polin, who had worked at the school for 18 years, said he was sad to see the college close and will miss the students and the close-knit employees.
"It's a shame we had to close," he said.
"We've been here for so long.
...
Polin said he understood the business reasons for closing the campus.

"It was not a hard-core-run business," Polin said.
