  Plummer Hired as Giants Ridge Real Property Coordinator - [Cached Version]

  Jim Plummer has been hired by Iron Range Resources as the Giants Ridge® Real Property Coordinator. He will oversee and implement real property development at the Giants Ridge® Recreation Area, as well as facilitate the Giants Ridge® Master Association.
  
  Giants Ridge recently unveiled a 20-year master plan which holds the potential of unprecedented residential and commercial growth for the eastern end of the Mesabi Iron Range. The Giants Ridge® Recreation Area is comprised of 10,000 acres of lands owned by both public and private parties. Iron Range Resources owns over 1,600 acres, and the master plan is built on the premise that the agency will sell land parcels to private parties who will drive future development. Plummer will coordinate those land sales related to the plan, which includes a mountain top village and an expanded base resort village; a water park; additional lodging; an ice skating rink; single family homes, lakeshore and lake-access lots ranging from ½ to 10 acres; fractional ownership properties; multi-family housing; parks and beaches; and public and private boat landings.
  
  "I am excited to work with stakeholders and potential private developers to ensure accelerated yet controlled growth and economic development for the Giants Ridge® Resort," said Plummer. "My focus will be on the oversight of land sales to private developers who share in the collective vision for the future of Giants Ridge®; a vision that protects the integrity and beauty of the natural resources surrounding the resort."
  
  Plummer received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and English from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Arts Degree in Urban and Regional Studies from Mankato State University. He worked for the cities of Apple Valley and Hastings in their planning departments. For the last 18 years, he has worked for the St. Louis County Planning Department. He and his wife have three children and reside in Hibbing.
  
  Iron Range Resources recognized many years ago the development potential of the Giants Ridge® Recreation Area and as a result formed a Master Association. The Association was legally incorporated in 1998 and is now an entity comprised of representatives from the resort's private and public stakeholders; its purpose is to provide a forum in which these resort partners may work together to effectively achieve common goals.
  
  "Jim will be a very welcome addition to the Giants Ridge® Master Association," said Linda Johnson, Managing Director of Giants Ridge® and president of the Master Association.
