    Ms. La Plante works in the Columbia, Maryland, office of SCS Engineers (SCS) and often collaborates with other regional offices throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

    Ms. La Plante graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2000 with a BS in Civil Engineering.Since graduation, Ms. La Plante has applied her engineering skills to a variety of subjects including groundwater remediation, erosion and sediment control, water distribution and solid waste management.She currently is focusing on solid waste management projects for several SCS clients, working with local governments on planning, design, and construction of solid waste processing and disposal facilities throughout Maryland and Virginia.

    Ms. La Plante is an active member of SAME serving on the Baltimore Post Scholarship Committee and Young Members Committee.She is also active in local chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Solid Waste Association of North America.

    Ms. La Plante is dedicated to introducing students of all ages to the field of engineering by helping to organize, and participating in, activities like the Future Cities competition and Engineer Day activities at Port Discovery, Baltimore's Children Museum.She also mentors engineering college students to help them prepare for life after college.

    After the ceremony, Ms. La Plante stated, "I was surprised to receive the award, and encouraged by the support that I received from my colleagues at SCS.
