After prompt and involved discussion of choices of lobbyists who could best provide the Task Force with information and access, the Task Force decided to retain the services of Ken Plante.Ken previously worked with Governor Jeb Bush during his first term.Ken has a depth of experience in advocacy on health care and related issues.Ken Plante and Tom Batchelor have worked quite well together in getting input from staffers and legislators during session, as well as wielding influence in the community so that the Task Force has access to the right people.

RE : CS/CS/SB 1790, FHCF Second Season Bill

Dear Mr. Plante :

This year the Florida Legislature passed a very important piece of legislation (CS/CS/SB 1790) designed to strengthen the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund.The Fund is critical to the state's ability to finance hurricane losses and protect consumers from post-event insurance market disruption.

The Florida Insurance Council encourages Governor Jeb Bush not only to sign CS/CS/SB 1790, but schedule a public ceremony to acknowledge the importance of this bill to Florida, which faces the gravest, consistent threat from hurricanes of any state in the country.

Attended IAFF Haz-Mat Advisory Council meeting in Palm Springs, California ; Met with Governor Bush's Legislative Director Ken Plante on HB 1883, SB 1664 and future of State Fire Marshal ; Met with State Fire Marshal Bill Nelson's Chief of Staff Pete Mitchell on future of State Fire Marshal.
