Statewide, $79.4 million was provided for 12,984 FTE students for enrollment growth for 2002-03, said Wayne Pierson, chief financial officer for the Florida Department of Education.
"Our tentative budget workpapers include an estimate of $103 million for enrollment growth of 9,842 FTE for 2003-04," Pierson said."This does not include Florida Gulf Coast University, but final enrollment estimates are still being reviewed.Note that we have not yet presented a budget recommendation to the Florida Board (of Education), so the 2003-04 estimate is strictly an internal estimate in workpapers at this time."
FGCU set a target of 3,000 FTE by 2004-05.But within the past year, the Florida Board of Education agreed - at FGCU's request - to adjust the target to 2,711 FTE to coincide with 2002-03 budget cuts.
