   The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. W. Lee Pierson to be Interim Headmaster of Collegiate School, effective July 1st.This is a superb appointment for Collegiate, bringing an expert academic and administrator who will continue to move the School forward next year.Beyond the wealth of experience Dr. Pierson possesses from his distinguished career as a teacher and headmaster, he has been an interim headmaster twice with such extraordinary contributions that both Schools would have selected him to be permanent headmaster had he wished to stay.
   
   Dr. Pierson grew up in Connecticut, graduated from Choate and did his undergraduate work at Princeton.He earned his Masters in International Politics at the University of Pennsylvania and a Doctorate in Education at Harvard.He has taught at Exeter and Athens College, a high school in Greece, where he was also Headmaster for six years after acting as Special Assistant to the US Commissioner of Education.Dr. Pierson served with great distinction for 14 years as Headmaster of Rye Country Day School in Westchester.
   
   Dr. Pierson is a scholar and an experienced educator.His understanding of schools and quick grasp of the strengths and values of Collegiate promises an excellent fit.Our search continues for a permanent Head and we expect Dr Pierson's activity at the School this coming year to contribute greatly to facilitate the transition for the Head, once chosen.He has done this admirably in his previous positions as interim headmaster.All of his schools credit his enormous and wide ranging experience, sense of humor, clear intelligence, thoughtfulness, balanced professionalism, approachability and down to earth sophistication as keys to his success and popularity.We are sure you will see this as well.Dr. Pierson is excited to be coming to Collegiate and we look forward to welcoming him and his wife Andree.
