   Geordie Gillett, Grand Targhee Resort owner, announced that F. Scott Pierpont has recently joined Grand Targhee's management team as General Manager.

   SAM Magazine-Grand Targhee, Wyo., Sept. 11, 2007-Scott Pierpont has been named general manager of Grand Targhee. Pierpont has spent more than 30 years in the the ski industry, and makes the move to Targhee from Utah where he held positions as president and managing director of The Canyons, president of the Park City Chamber of Commerce and chairman of Ski Utah, the marketing arm of the state's ski industry. Other positions held by Pierpont include stints as both vice president of mountain operations and president and managing director at Mount Snow, Vt.
   
   "My wife Jill and I are looking forward to living and working in Teton Valley," said Pierpont. "The opportunities that lie ahead at Grand Targhee are very exciting."
   
   Pierpont takes over the GM position vacated by Larry Williamson, who retired from Grand Targhee after 35 years.

   For nearly seven years, Pierpont guided The Canyons, the largest ski resort in Utah, through rapid growth. Around the time officials at American Skiing Company, the parent company to The Canyons, announced Pierpont's resignation, they also announced ASC's plans to sell the resort.
   
   As chief at Grand Targhee, Pierpont will replace Larry Williamson, who is retiring, Barnett-Bushong said.

   In a 2006 Park Record article, Pierpont said he had worked in the ski industry for 33 years.
   
   "I've been skiing for 47 years and I love it," he told the newspaper. "To get to do this as a job is amazing."
   
   Commenting about The Canyons, Pierpont said, "it's just an amazing mountain."
   
   "It's a great place to come to work; my job is one thing I'm never late for," he said.
   
   It's unclear why Pierpont, who lived in Coalville, left his position at the resort. Around the time of his departure, he served on boards for the Park City Chamber/Bureau and Ski Utah.
