MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Ethel B. Piercy, 101, formerly of Kingsport, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2002) in Memphis.
She was born in Clouds Creek (Hawkins County). She attended Teacher's Normal (now ETSU) in Johnson City and afterward taught in the Russellville and Whitesburg Schools. She majored in Church Nursery (now called Preschool) and Cradle Roll work and served in these departments for more than 50 years.
She was a consultant of the Sunday School Department of the Tennessee Baptist Convention for many years. Upon coming to Kingsport in 1955, she became a member of Calvary Baptist Church and taught ladies Sunday School class there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Luther Brooks and Mary Katherine Lee Piercy; her husband, Blake F. Piercy Sr.; two sons, Robert and Blake Piercy; one sister, Scottie Climer; one grandson, Blake Piercy III; one son-in-law, Dr. Don L. Winfield.
