   Pierce is now entered in Indiana DAR Good Citizens Contest to be awarded in March.
   
   She has shown her leadership talent by being chosen vice president of the school's active honor society, and her selection at Western Boone's delegate to Hoosier Girls State, where her fellow delegates chose her as an officer.
   
   Pierce also is a volunteer gymnastics coach and serves her church as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher. She also works in the Western Boone High School guidance office.
   
   Extra-curricular activities include gymnastics training 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. four days during the week and again on Saturday's at DeVeaw's School of Gymnastics, and still finds time for homework and remaining in the Top 20 in her class. Pierce has been a member of the USA Women's National Gymnastics team and the pre-Olympic training group. Recently, she represented Region V on a gymnastics trip to France. As part of a trip gift exchange, Pierce made blue velvet bags lined with red and white stars and filled them with a U.S. flag pin, U.S. coins and area postcards for gymnasts from countries including China, France and Russia.
   
   Pierce is a peer tutor for junior high school students, volunteers at elementary school carnivals and works booths at the Boone County 4-H Fair.
