Charlotte M. Pierce has announced her intent to seek re-election to the position of Gulf County School Board Member, District 5.
It is her desire to see the Gulf County School District continue to be a leader in the education community and maintain the forward direction of the overall educational system of Gulf County.She attributes these accomplishments to factors that include a concerted effort by the school board, superintendent, teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, students and parents.Also included in this are School Advisory Councils, individuals and volunteers from the community who are keenly aware of the future educational needs of our students, as well as a sound financial base for the school system.
Mrs. Pierce is a graduate of Port St. Joe High School and Jones College.She has taken additional courses in accounting and computer technology from Gulf Coast Community College and participated in leadership training conferences offered by the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium.Her previous employment experience includes Data Processing Division, Tyndall AFB, Municipal Hospital, and Florida National Bank.
In 1995 Pierce became a Certified Board Member through the Florida School Board Association and has completed the required annual renewal hours each year to remain board certified.She has earned over 560 hours in boardmanship during her tenure as a board member and recently completed the certified Master Board program, along with other members of the Gulf County School Board and superintendent, to earn the distinction of being one of 30 certified Master Boards in the state.
She is a member of the Parent Support Group for Academic Excellence, Gulf County Scholar-ship Committee, Education Foundation of Gulf County, and serves as the school board's representative on the Gulf County Economic Development Council.She is also a member of the St. Joseph Historical Society.
Pierce states that she will continue to be a full time board member, accessible to everyone, and responsive to all issues.
A Gulf County native, she is married to Paul H. Pierce and they have one son, Jonathan.
