Michela Alioto Pier
Michela Alioto Pier, Co-Owner, Amici Winery, Napa, CA. In addition to her work with Amici Winery, Alioto Pier recently ran as a democratic nominee for California Secretary of State.In 1996 she was a candidate for California's First Congressional District, and prior to that spent two and a half years working in the Clinton White House for Vice President Al Gore on domestic policy.Additionally, she was a White House transition liaison for the Department of Health and Human Services.In 1984, at the age of 17, Alioto Pier was appointed as the youngest member to President Reagan's National Council on Disability's Advisory Board and has been a delegate to three of the last four United States-Japan Summit Conferences on Disabilities, where she has chaired the Committee on Science and Technology.She is currently a member of the National Women's Political Caucus, the Women's Leadership Forum, and the Majority Council of EMILY's List.Alioto Pier earned a degree in Anthropology from the University of California at Los Angeles and spent a year studying at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.She and her husband Tom and their son Nicholas make their home in San Francisco, CA.
