That's how Howard Pier responds when asked what it takes to become a Times Old Newsie. A member of the group since 1973, Pier is currently the group's secretary and has also served as Sale Day chair and president.
No doubt all the other men and women Newsies share Pier's optimism about the giving nature of people. Why else would they pay annual dues of $10 for the privilege of spending at least eight hours of their time on the first Friday of every December in order to help the needy?
