   A recipient of numerous honors and awards, soprano Christina Pier has begun a promising career.A Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she has also received the Gilbert Artist Award from Florida Grand Opera, a George London Award, a Sullivan Award, and two Palm Beach Opera Competition Awards.In addition, she received the Anna Case Mackay Grant from the Santa Fe Opera and a Sosenko Trust Grant.
   
   Last season Ms. Pier performed the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro with the Minnesota Opera and Mica,la in Carmen at the Princeton Festival, as well as understudied the roles of Iphigenie in Iphigenie en Tauride and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.In previous seasons, Ms. Pier made her professional debut as Donna Anna with the Santa Fe Opera in a new production directed by Chas Rader-Schieber and conducted by Alan Gilbert.

   Christina Pier was a Young American Artist with the Florida Grand Opera in 2004.She was also a Young Artist with the Glimmerglass Opera in 2003 and an Apprentice Artist with the Santa Fe Opera in 2002.

   In the 2006-2007 season Ms. Pier will perform the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro with the Minnesota Opera and Micaëla in Carmen at the Princeton Festival, as well as understudy the roles of Iphigenie in Iphigenie en Tauride and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.In addition to her operatic commitments, Ms. Pier will perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Roberto Abbado.
