  (Crain's) - CME Group announced Wednesday it promoted Hilda Harris Piell to head up the exchange's human resources department and oversee employee development.
  
  Ms. Piell, 39, was named managing director and chief organizational development officer for CME Global, the company formed earlier this year by the merger of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade.She was previously a managing director and senior associate general counsel and was involved in planning the CME merger with CBOT.
  
  She replaces E. Beth Keeve, 54, who is retiring after 13 years with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
  
  Ms. Piell will be responsible for hiring, retaining and developing employees in addition to overseeing CME Group's benefits, compensation, employee relations and organizational effectiveness needs.
