Rudy "Pie" Piekarski
Rudy Piekarski began his life-long interest in broadcasting when, as a teenager, he volunteered for WHKK's phone request line in the mid 50's.
By 1963, he was a sports stats person, analyst, color commentator and reporter for WAKR. He also broadcast high school and college football and basketball games, PBA and WPBA Bowling events, PGA and WPGA events and the Soap Box Derby . Piekarski's affiliation with the station lasted from 1963 to 1982.
During the 80's and early 90's, he kept Akron residents current with sporting events by broadcasting, producing and analyzing thousands of games on local stations.
He is currently heard on WSLR where he does color work, play-by-play and co-hosts a sports talk show.
Piekarski also is a self-employed trophy and sporting goods dealer.
