   Vehicles traveling Cedar Crest Boulevard between Byrd Avenue and Fish Hatchery Road are often trapped in turn-only lanes, said J. Scott Pidcock, a representative with the engineering firm spearheading the project, The Pidcock Company.
   
   The $7.5 million dollar project includes installing turning lanes and traffic lights where Cedar Crest Boulevard intersects with Lincoln and Kathleen avenues, Fish Hatchery Road and the Interstate 78 onramps.A light will also mediate a new hospital employee entrance constructed off Fish Hatchery Road.That road will be expanded from two lanes to six lanes west of Cedar Crest Boulevard.
   
   The new traffic light sensor system will coordinate lights to ensure that cars do not stack at intersections, Pidcock said."It can reallocate green time from the direction that doesn't need it to the light that would appreciate it," he said.
   
   The project will also double the hospital's available parking to 5,000 spaces and will add an emergency room-only lane to the main entrance on Cedar Crest Boulevard.
   
   Construction has already begun on a storm water management basin west of Cedar Crest Boulevard.Cedar Crest Boulevard improvements will begin south of Fish Hatchery Road mid-summer and finish north of Lincoln Avenue in December.
   
   The construction will close the westbound travel lane of Fish Hatchery Road west of Cedar Crest Boulevard for three to four weeks in the mid-summer, but will not decrease the number of usable lanes on Cedar Crest Boulevard, Pidcock said.
