The final number of classes will be determined next week, Petrossian said, the deadline for families to reserve a spot in the language program they were accepted to.
By signing up, the families will agree to remain in the dual-language immersion program through the fifth grade.
Petrossian said adding Burbank Elementary, in the district's northern boundary, will increase accessibility to families who live in other parts of the district.
Additionally, she said, a few of the Burbank Elementary teachers speak Mandarin Chinese and are interested in helping out.
"We are trying to meet the needs of as many people as possible," Petrossian said.
