Following his military service, Bea and TM made a home and raised three wonderful children on the Island.TM was also very active in his community.He began working in the plumbing and heating business, attending night classes in Hyannis to secure advanced licenses in his field.He worked for Midland Plumbing & Heating, Amaral Bros. Plumbing & Heating, and eventually started his own company which thrived for 35 years.
He was very involved with raising money to build St. Augustine's Church.As president of the Holy Name Society for two years, he hosted ballroom dances, complete with swing bands, put on the famous Barbecue Chicken Dinners on the church parking lot and ran the three-day mini-carnivals for several years - all to benefit the church.
TM was a volunteer fireman in Vineyard Haven for 35 years, retiring with the rank of captain.
He served two terms as Commander of the American Legion Post 257, and two terms as Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9261.
