Commercial Services Manager of the St. Catherine Parish Council, Yvonne Percel, has tendered her resignation effective Friday, October 1.
Mrs. Percel who has worked with the St. Catherine Parish Council for the past four years after leaving the Social Development Commission where she was the Special Training and Empowerment Programme (STEP) coordinator has been in the position of commercial service manager since November 1, 2001. In an interview with the Gleaner, Mrs. Percel said that the time has come for her to move to personal growth and to do further development that will benefit Jamaica. She pointed out that her time spent with the St. Catherine Parish Council has been very fruitful and that she got along with all strata of staff amicably.
During her time she has achieved great reward as the council became a profitable. commercial entity. So much so that in 2002 it was recorded that the revenue of the St. Catherine Parish Council experienced a 200 percent gross profit moving from $2.3 million to $7 million that year.
She listed her most challenging period as having to deal with vendors, most of whom said that they were not ready for the changes.
Although not disclosing her new employment she pointed out that she is moving with a broad track record having achieved a degree in Social Science from the University of the West Indies, and eight years later her MBA from New Orleans University. She said she believed she is armed with the required experience and knowledge that will propel her forward in giving of her best in what ever area she might find herself. -
